A personal story

The personal story of ChangeMakeHer Trust’s founder, Wendy Shipman, is one of courage and fortitude to break through the single mother stigma from her earlier years. She was one of 9,150 teenage mothers in 1972. The journey she travelled has given her the gift of empathy for all women raising a family alone.

ChangeMakeHer Trust was established in 2019 to make life coaching equitable for women raising a family alone. With the right support a single mothers can become the catalyst for their own change and build a better future for herself and her family. Life coaching provides that support and offered by ChangeMakeHer through their nationwide network of coaches.

The challenge today

Today in New Zealand there are over 200,000 single parent families, in most of these cases women are the primary carers. The challenge of getting ahead for these mothers is tough.

These women have endured a relationship breakdown from singleness, separation, divorce or widowhood. At the same time they are faced with a challenge to provide for their family, whilst trying to build a new future themselves. Raising children on your own can be lonely. ChangeMakeHer journeys with these women for up to five years which gives a good period of time put into action their new life goals.
